Some Action-Heroes Updates
Hello, and welcome to my first devlog for my Action-Heroes game. The devlogs are one of the functions of this site that I really enjoy, because it is nice to be able to talk about the game in more depth and not clog up the main page for the game. Summer convention season and a Kickstarter on Outland's side have slowed down the process of transferring ownership of Action-Heroes to me, but I am working on things on my end so that I can quickly update things once I have the production files.
I have a supplement that I am doing some final writing for so that I can get it laid out once Action-Heroes is 100% mine, This supplement is material that I developed for the backers of my Patreon and that has grown out of play in my home games. I have some new Abilities that I came up with during play, and I've made some changes to some of the existing ones. Unfortunately it just isn't possible to playtest every option in a game, particularly one with as many options as this game. That just means that sometimes better ideas for how to make things work happen after the fact. Role-playing games are living documents, so this is all a part of the process.
This is a new Ability that came about during one of my games. It is actually something that I've used in a few games, and took from an old British time traveling RPG that came out years ago, because I liked the idea of it so much. It is great for comic book action games.
Benchthumping
Cost: 1 Point/Rank
Relevant Attribute: Body
Progression: See description
By giving a failing or broken piece of equipment a whack with a tool, or a good thump, your character can get it working again for 1d6 turns per rank of this Ability. At the end of the time, the equipment completely breaks down and will need to be replaced or actually repaired. Make a Body check and add the ranks of this Ability to it. If the device is considered to be seriously damaged by the GM, the difficulty of the check has a Challenging difficulty, and if the device is catastrophically damaged then the difficulty of the check is Difficult. If the check fails, the device is rendered damaged, and will be inoperable until it can be repaired.
There are also some new Motivations for characters, beyond the basic ones in the core rules, some new uses for Action Points, and a few general new rules that I made when they came up in play. I'm going to call this supplement Action-Heroes Unleashed.
But I wanted to push out an update and let everyone know that things are happening, they're just going more slowly than I would like.
